Checking a final answer
For multiple-choice questions, your selected option is checked against the question’s answer. For supported numerical and mathematical questions, your final answer is checked against the requirements of that question.
Follow the instructions about units, rounding and answer form. Two expressions can have the same value but still not satisfy an instruction to factorise, simplify, or give an exact answer. Accepted forms depend on the question.
Submitting a final answer does not automatically award marks for the steps you took. Check which answer fields and marking actions the question provides.
Written responses and partial credit
Where written-response marking is available, your response is assessed against the question’s marking criteria with AI assistance. A completed result can show the marks awarded, feedback on individual criteria, and suggestions for improvement.
Partial credit is available when the question’s marking criteria allow it. A response may meet some criteria without meeting all of them. Do not assume that every question awards method marks or that a long answer earns more credit.
For questions with several parts, read each part’s result. One correct part does not make the whole response correct.
Advice on working is different from a mark
Some questions let you enter working and request feedback on your steps. This can help you find a mistake or choose a better next step. Advisory feedback on working does not itself change the recorded mark for your final answer.
Likewise, a tutor conversation is a place to learn and ask questions. To have a new answer assessed, submit it through the question’s available answer or marking action.
Check how your answer was read
If the system interprets your notation and checks a restated version, you may see “We read your answer as …”. Read that line even when the result is correct. It tells you which answer was assessed.
If the displayed interpretation does not match what you meant, make your notation clearer and submit again using the available controls. Include brackets where they matter and follow the question’s requested format.
Use a result to choose your next step
These results support practice and revision; they are not official exam-board marks or a prediction of your exam grade. AI-assisted feedback can make mistakes.
If a result seems wrong, check the question instructions, your submitted answer, and any displayed interpretation. Contact support with the course, question and result if the issue remains. Never include your password or payment details.
