Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Lumen Learn (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If we discover that we have, we will delete it promptly.

To access most features, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current information; maintain the security of your credentials; not share your account with others; notify us immediately of any unauthorized access; and be responsible for all activity under your account.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent, abusive, or harmful behavior.

4.1 Plans. Lumen Learn offers a free tier and paid subscription plans ("Premium"). Pricing is shown on the Service and may change with reasonable notice.

4.2 Free Trial. Premium subscriptions may include a 14-day free trial. You may cancel during the trial at no charge. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will be charged the applicable subscription fee.

4.3 Billing. Payments are processed by Stripe Inc. By providing payment information, you authorize us (via Stripe) to charge your selected payment method on a recurring basis according to your chosen plan (monthly or annual).

4.4 Refunds. We offer a full refund within 7 days of your first paid subscription charge. After 7 days, payments are non-refundable. Cancellation stops future billing but does not refund prior charges. You retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period.

4.5 Price Changes. We will provide at least 30 days' notice before any price increase applies to your subscription. Continued use after the change constitutes acceptance.

4.6 Cancellation. You may cancel anytime through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose; reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code; resell or commercially redistribute the Service; use automated systems to access the Service without permission; share credentials or operate multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits; attempt to disrupt or compromise the Service's security; use the AI tutor to generate illegal, harmful, or abusive content; or misrepresent your identity.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations.

The Service includes an AI-powered tutor that generates responses to your questions. AI responses are generated automatically and may contain errors or inaccuracies. They do not constitute professional advice and are provided "as is" with no warranty. Treat AI responses as a supplement to — not a substitute for — the human-verified lesson content on the platform.

Your AI tutor messages are processed by Anthropic PBC under their data handling terms. We do not use your messages to train AI models.

Lessons, practice questions, and educational content are for personal study only. You may not redistribute, republish, or share the content with non-subscribers, use it for commercial training, or claim authorship. All content is owned by Lumen Learn or licensed from third parties.

You retain ownership of any content you submit. By submitting content, you grant Lumen Learn a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, process, store, and display it as necessary to provide the Service. We do not publicly display user content.

The Service, including its design, code, content, logos, and trademarks, is the property of Lumen Learn or its licensors. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights. You may not use our trademarks without prior written permission.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; that defects will be corrected; or that information obtained through the Service will be accurate or reliable.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LUMEN LEARN SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or CAD $100, whichever is greater.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lumen Learn from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may terminate your account at any time by canceling your subscription and deleting your account.

We may revise these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of the District of Montreal, Quebec.
